As a key member of the President’s executive team, the Special Assistant to the President manages strategic projects and creates select communications content for the President. This position plays a vital role in enabling the university’s new vision, mission and commitments.Specific duties include: developing and coordinating strategic institutional relationships; coordinating externally-focused strategic institutional projects; producing content for select presidential communications; and assisting the President with special meetings, events and travel. The Special Assistant acts as the Chief of Staff in the incumbent’s absence.

Create report and present recommendations to Board of Trustees- Support and organize the change management process of 3 presidents over 2 years including; transition communications, executive search committee and onboarding- Support resolution of complex institutional issues that are highly confidential and time sensitivePrepare and contribute to the creation of internal and external reports, briefings, presentations and responses on strategic and cost issues- Work closely with external constituents including C- Level Executives, government officials and Boards that the president participates in - Travel domestically and internationally with the President to attend meetings with government and business leaders to represent Thunderbird’s interest
Asst. Director - Institutional Advancement/Alumni Relations
- Established an in-house call center tasked with soliciting funds for different projects from alumni. Helped recruit and train 20 student employees to work in the center. Project exceeded 2010 annual goal by 16% by raising $236K vs. $200K- Conduct face to face client meetings domestically and internationally with constituents to solicit funding for diverse initiatives- Designed and deployed a client management rewards program called Thunderbird Flight Society focused on increasing alumni participation. This aided in an increase of alumni charitable donations from 10% to 15% by the end of the fiscal year- Teamed with 4 development officers to raise $65M in funds towards a capital campaign by marketing the various programs requiring funds to high net worth constituents. Team exceeded goal by June 2011.- Teamed with senior management and an outside agency to develop marketing collateral to be utilized by the development officers on our sales visits with constituents- Successfully managed multiple global events targeted at stewarding Thunderbird’s Board of Trustees, Global Council and alumni- Partnered with Thunderbird’s senior management to develop and execute a cultivation, recruitment and stewardship system for high net worth donors. This project has increased membership by 33% in the first year- Assisted the recruiting team in increasing the presence of its international population by hosting and managing outreach events globally to attract underrepresented populations to Thunderbird- Mentored students by creating actions plans to optimize their chances of success academically and professionally post graduation
Asst. Vice President - Strategic Cost Initiative
- Led global organization-wide project focused on analyzing HSBC’s procurement process and vendor relationships in an effort to determine usage, streamline and standardize the process as well as decrease expenses. Project resulted in savings of $40M after review and analyses of over 150 global vendor contacts in the first year- Established relationships with senior executives across various business units to identify projects that led to expense reductions and increased operational efficiency- Created a project management handbook and conducted internal training sessions to ensure best practices were shared and implemented across the company
