Hi, I’m Bhakti, a social science researcher and a freelance journalist. 🎯 Key interests - - responsible renewable energy and just transition- responsible climate financing- intersection of caste, land, gender and climate change- people and planet centric technological innovations 🌏 I currently work at Climate Group overseeing our work under the Responsible Energy Initiative (REI) India. REI is a consortium that brings together the industry, government, communities and civil society organisations under a platform. REI advocates for and works towards people and planet-centric development of RE in India.🗒 In the past, I worked as a freelance journalist and have worked on research projects covering areas like - agrarian protests in Vidharba, Maharashtra, weaving communities in the country, I have written about transport and mobility in Bengaluru and cover major socio-political issues in the country.✨️ I am a doer and I believe in taking action. I like to keep learning and I am always open to newer opportunities in life. This flexibility has has helps me look at the world and work more broadly and cross-functionally, right from covering news, to writing op-ed pieces, to authoring policy brief, to managing an high impact project, to effectively engaging with the industry, communities and governments.🗺 I speak English, Marathi, Hindi, and Gujarati. I am currently learning Tamil and Malayalam, and I’m brushing up on my French🚀 I have a BA in Economics and an MA in Development Studies. I am deeply fascinated by the impact that research-action and communication can have as tools for social change. And what piques my interest most is how social change oscillates between cynicism and hopefulness!☕️ In my free time I clean, cook, exercise, survive on coffee and meet new people and talk about politics!
