As the Athletic Dean at the New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy, my role involves overseeing all aspects of the school's athletic program. I have implemented new software platforms to improve ticket and concession sales, and to make scheduling more efficient and accessible. Additionally, I have mentored new coaches and provided guidance on best practices for communication, administration, and coaching methods. I work closely with the school administration to coordinate ongoing capital improvement projects and to manage day-to-day operational logistics. I also liaise with disciplinary and attendance teams to reinforce behavioral expectations of athletes. To support student-athletes, I have created a Cadet-Athlete Handbook outlining athlete and parental expectations and a codified award system for letterman and athletic awards. As part of my efforts to improve the program, I have doubled the coaching staff, updated the athletic budget to include new revenue sources such as fundraising and athletic fees, and updated coaching stipend schedules to remain competitive amongst other schools. Finally, I have modified and fine-tuned the Emergency Action Plan for all venues to account for a lack of athletic trainers and off-site locations, ensuring the safety of all student-athletes.

As a Social Studies Teacher at New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy from August 2017 to May 2022, I created and delivered dynamic and engaging lessons in US History, Civics, and Economics. I designed daily lessons that utilized various modes of teaching, including internet-based, print-based, and collaborative activities, to engage all students and meet their individual learning needs. I also developed and implemented academic and behavioral interventions to support struggling students, and integrated responsibility-centered discipline into my teaching to promote personal growth and problem-solving skills. Additionally, I worked collaboratively with my peers to create comprehensive thematic units of instruction with common assessments, accessible to all students including those with accommodations. Lastly, I was committed to ongoing professional development to determine and implement best practices in accommodating English language learners and special education students in daily activities.

As an Athletic Coach at the New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy from August 2017 to February 2023, I served as the Assistant Athletic Director and coached multiple sports teams including Wrestling, Powerlifting, Track & Field, Cross Country, and Softball. My role involved actively communicating with all stakeholders regarding practice and competition schedules, revisions, and opportunities for additional training out-of-season. Additionally, I integrated and implemented new software systems to allow students to view film and statistics, and created a program to track and monitor weight training progression. I facilitated daily direct instruction through modeling as well as explicit verbal communication while allowing teams to develop self-regulating/maintaining systems to encourage holistic leadership characteristic development. As part of my role, I also organized and managed team and individual fundraisers to help offset the costs associated with running athletic teams, and designed and built, from blueprints, sourcing materials, purchase, to the final build; weight room used by all athletic teams. Lastly, I implemented new standards for uniform designs to include a single bulldog, shield/crest, and designed all uniforms for associated teams.

As a Social Studies Teacher at Grace King High School from August 2015 to May 2017, I served as the 9th Grade Academy Chair and taught World Geography and Current Issues. My role involved collaborating with peers to create standards-based formative and summative assessments and lessons that were accessible to all students. I formed a framework for discussing current issues in an academic, dialectical mode at the high school level to encourage engagement and prevent demonization/ostracization of those with different opinions.I also served as a stand-in Dean on many occasions ensuring campus safety and security by providing aid to the Assistant Principal responsible for discipline. Additionally, I created a 9th grade specific behavioral check-in check-out process to provide appropriate interventions and developed Freshmen Academy Rules and Expectations which was adopted at the school level.Furthermore, I encouraged student engagement at the school level through involvement in athletics and clubs via a student interest survey and engaged in school-wide spirit, philanthropy, art/theater, athletic, and social events. Lastly, I implemented methods from Alternative Behavioral Intervention Techniques (ABIT), Restorative Approaches to Conflict management, and Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems to encourage student accountability and responsibility.
