The program is designed to engage the men of DeKalb and create an environment of inclusivity that will work to improve the overall health status of the citizens of DeKalb County, GA. Task associated with the development of the men's health initiative are to establish a diverse male leadership team that will serve as the principal participants in the programs development; engage the community with current and accurate health information for chronic disease and mental wellbeing; actively address public safety and economic development at the local community level to reduce external factors associated with each disease modalities. Some of the actions associated with the success of the program are to create partnerships that work to engage community members at all sectors and across all social economic status; reduce the stress and economic burdens that lead to risky behaviors used to lock individuals into a long term system of controls such as maltreatment, fear and incarceration.
