Geoff founded WRD in 1997 to create sustainable landscapes and provides the firm’s ongoing vision. Well-versed in sustainable development, he plays leadership and liaison roles on interdisciplinary design and development teams.With 30 years of experience in program and project management, Geoff has led a variety of large-scale environmental projects, job training programs, and community-engagement initiatives focused on environmental best practices -- consistently completing the sustainable results on time and on budget.His cost consciousness and understanding of what constitutes feasible design drive WRD’s client-centered services.Believing that progress toward lasting ecological stewardship begins with children, Geoff is also executive director of Prairie Crossing Charter School, an environmentally centered public school in Grayslake, IL. He previously served as Chair of the school’s Board of Directors.Geoff has been a juror for the City of Chicago’s Greenworks Awards and Friends of the Chicago River’s Blue Ribbon Awards. He has also presented at national and regional conferences on sustainable land use, green infrastructure and land health.

First introduced to PCCS in 2000, when his twin daughters were selected in the school lottery. In 2004, Geoff was instrumental for the construction of the 18 additional classrooms and gymnasium. This effort earned a LEED gold rating and allowed PCCS to expand into a full service K-8 public school. He served on the Board in ’07, and during his multi year tenure as Chair, he led an engaged, passionate and focused team of Directors with strong results.In 2013, Mr. Deigan returned as Executive Director to elevate the schools mission, vision and culture. With the firm believe that children are our best hope to improve the worlds, Geoff ensures that at PCCS, the environment is at the center of everything they do. Under his leadership, PCCS has since been a prominent leader in academics, recently ranking in the top 7% of all schools in the nation. With the schools environmentally focused integrated curriculum, the Green Schools National Network recognized PCCS as the best green K-12 school in the country. Geoff co-launched the Institute for Environmental Education, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that assists groups in integrating environmental education into their schools and communities.

Geoff hopes to help advance the INCS mission so that students in Illinois have access to a high quality public school that prepares them for a successful future. INCS advocates for the improvement of public education by leveraging the charter school model as a catalyst to transform lives and communities. INCS works to ensure that charter public schools have adequate and equitable resources, the autonomy to find innovative approaches to meet student needs, and a fair and transparent policy landscape that allows high-quality options to thrive.

Geoff strongly aligns with the mission of the Green Schools National Network (GSNN) - that every learner attends a healthy, equitable, and sustainable school. Founded in 2008, GSNN is devoted to accelerating student achievement through the implementation of green, healthy, and sustainable practices and works with educators, government and non-governmental organizations and agencies, and private partners to create broad-based initiatives and successful strategies aimed at fostering healthy, sustainable K-12 schools across the United States.
