I am an educator, academic leader, and researcher specializing in cybersecurity. I have a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the London School of Economics and Political Science, England. My doctoral research on the management of information systems security has been extended to encompass other issues including risk management, economic crime, and computer-related fraud. The output of my work has been used in large public and private sector organizations. Some aspects have also been used in drafting national security policies. My current research and teaching interests lie at the interface between technology and organizations. In particular, my focus has been on managing information security in organizations and ensuring the integrity of business operations. I was among the earlier (1997) researchers to make a call for understanding the socio-technicality of information security. In 2019, I was honored by Örebro University, Sweden with an Honorary Doctorate (Ph.D. honoris causa) for my contributions to the field.I have authored over a dozen books with leading publishers, including Macmillan and John Wiley. I have also published over 100 research papers in flagship journals, including Information Systems Research, Decision Sciences, Journal of Business Ethics and Journal of Management Information Systems. My work has been featured in the popular press, including Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Business Week, NBC News, among others. I have consulted with several organizations, helping them in developing security policies, and conducting security risk analysis. I have also advised several startups in managing and taking advantage of disruptive technologies.
