I have always been an independent person, moving out on my own at a young age to experience life on my terms and making my own life. During my 11 years in the US Air Force I learned how to work as a member of a team, how to be a good follower, then how to lead. After feeling like I had learned all I could on that journey, I took a risk of leaving the military to pursue my lifelong passion of computer networking and technology.After 11 years in the military I received an honorable discharge and dove head first into working and studying all things computer networking in order to achieve certifications and prove my professional worth. I soon earned a position as a Network Technician and was exposed to a vast array of technologies and responsibilities. This quickly opened my eyes to all of the things I had yet to learn and the fire of education began to burn even stronger. I earned my Cisco Certified Network Associated in Routing and Switching certification and was promoted to Network Administrator only nine months after beginning at Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. I was then promoted again about two years later to Senior Network Administrator.I worked hard and earned my Cisco Certified Network Professional Routing and Switching certification (since renamed to Enterprise CCNP Enterprise) before changing job roles from Senior Network Administrator to a Senior Security Engineer role at Lowe's. In this enterprise role I have been able to continued to sharpen my troubleshooting skills, strengthened my teamwork skills, and continued to develop my leadership abilities. I have expanded my skills by specializing in a cyber security capacity on various vendors firewalls, multiple types of remote access technologies, architecting and implementing new cloud security solutions. I recently earned my CySA+ certification and will soon earn my PenTest+ certification as well.I am driven to furthering my formal education as well as I am currently pursuing my Master's of Science in Cyber Security and Information Assurance at Western Governor's University.
