At VIDC:- Filed end-of-year documents such as retention bonuses and salary increases for all public defenders, investigators, mitigation specialists, and administrative staff in Virginia to keep VIDC records updated and accurate- Digitized over 600 employee files At Richmond Public Defender’s Office:- Conducted research on grants awarded to law enforcement and local jails to make recommendations for changes in the upcoming General Assembly session, with the goal of replacing broken phones in the Richmond City Jail- Organized and transcribed data about each case the office handled in 2021 to help the Chief PD answer questions from city council to promote the office goal of increasing public defender salaries to match prosecutor salaries- Utilized various social media platforms to research potential jurors for upcoming jury trials-Performed basic administrative tasks such as boxing closed files to take to the Library of Virginia, making copies, and replenishing paper and envelope supplies

- Observed eviction court proceedings in Richmond, taking note of the length of the hearings and patterns in legal representation, case outcomes, and procedural justice- Observed a range of judicial and courtroom practices that produced very different outcomes for tenants facing eviction- Used data collected to create two databases of easily readable data - Analyzed data and identified patterns in eviction court proceedings to assist community partners in advocating for the protection of tenants’ rights - Presented research findings at end of year research symposium and discussed opportunities to reduce eviction and advance justice in Virginia
