I am a highly skilled coach, accomplished director and proven developer of young talent having established an exceptional record in the game across senior positions for Hartlepool United, Sunderland AFC and Manchester United FC.Most recently, Hartlepool United First Team Coach/ Assistant Manager in which I delivered the agreed coaching programme, which was challenging both physically, technically and tactically. One of my key roles was to ensure that the daily environment was positive, stimulating and engaging whilst always maintaining high standards and discipline. On a daily basis, I supported the Manager in his management of the team and stepped in, in his absence. Carrying out any requested duties from the Manager or the Club itself. Throughout his time at Hartlepool, I played a vital role in the Match Day games, supporting the Manager in match day preparation, during the game and in post match meetings with both the players and the staff. Sunderland’s Academy Director for 12 years, I have consistently focused on providing both players and coaches the foundations needed to progress to a senior level. By successfully developed multiple programmes at the club, I was able to turn the Academy into one of the most productive Category 1 facilities in the country.I possess excellent senior communication, organisation and leadership skills, and am fully committed to providing a similarly positive influence in either team management or the coordination of a youth structure.

My main responsibility was the overall management of the Academy in the development of players from the U8 to U21 age groups. Additional duties included:• Managing departments including Coaching, Sports Science, Medical, Administration and Education• Coordinating the Development Programme that supported players'​ progression through the ages• Effectively planning cross-departmental schedules and delegating tasks through regular meetings• Coaching across all age groups from U9 to U23 (Lead Coach from U15 to U21 level at various stages)• Driving ongoing staff development and intelligent succession planning• Liaising between the first team management, club executives and other coaching / support staff • Working with scouts to identify and bring in talented young domestic and international players• Managing the football budget effectively across staff, players, equipment, facilities, etc.• Building relationships with stakeholders in senior and youth football nationally and internationally Key Achievements:✔ Achieved Category 1 status for the Academy following the implementation of the EPPP strategy✔ Graduates include: Jordan Henderson, Jordan Pickford, Jack Colback, and Duncan Watmore✔ The Academy produced more than 40 players that progressed to senior football✔ The U18s were Northern Section champions in 2007, 2008 2009, 2011 and 2013✔ The U18s were National League finalists in 2007 and semi-finalists in 2011 and 2013✔ The U18s reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals in 2008✔ Led the U21s to be National League runners-up in 2015/16 alongside Andy Welsh✔ The U15s won a major international tournament hosted in Warwick in 2009✔ Developed and introduced several progressive Academy programmes with staff and player input✔ Consistently supported significant coach and staff progression
