Nordea's strategy move quickly on EU PSD2 to publish Open Banking APIs led to the establishment of an API Platform. I was involved in:* establishing RESTful API Guidelines and Governance processes* coordinating with infrastructure to establish IBM API Connect on premise* migration of IBM Public to reserved instance of API Connect* planned future use of IBM Cloud (Bluemix) to support sandbox development* analysis of RTS security requirements and application to IBM API connect

At ANZ the Customer Services Platform has 11 squads each with access to a Devops engineer, environment manager and technical support. CSP are developing APIs and Front-ends in Java on WAS. Over time the projects have established their own CI build and environment processes but this has led to issues with contention with the Bamboo build servers and environment clashes and issues with the Atlassian tool suite.My responsibilities include:- bringing together the Devops teams with environment management under a System Team (modelled off SAFe)- assess the current state of Devops and Environment Management and set new standards for CSP- Drive continuous improvement through between local, offshore ANZ and multiple vendors * Docker-isation of build stack in Redhat Linux * Atlassian tool support and stability * Environment stability and services improvement

The Telstra Change Management team is responsible for process and monitoring of all Network, IT and Infrastructure changes to Telstra Services. In this role I was a process subject matter expert and responsible for the integration of new teams and services into the Change Management process. My key achievements whilst in the role was being selected to go to Jakarta, Indonesia to mentor the operations team at telkomtelstra Joint Venture. I also achieved a significant compliance improvement in change management training within Operations through engagement of team leads and effective communication. Also during this role I self-taught Nodejs, Angular, mocha, swagger to develop a RESTful API and proof of concept to enhance the Telstra service status page - investigated use of docker and vagrant for environment virtualisation.

The ITS Deployment team is a group of 4 coordinators in a larger team of 16 release managers and solution specialists tasked with planning and running the bi-monthly Telstra enterprise releases. The Deployment lead, working with the release then coordinates the pre, deployment weekend and post production activities which normally extends beyond 50 teams and releases over $100 million in project size. My key achievement whilst in the role was the implementation of Plutora - a cloud-based Enterprise Release, Environment and Deployment Management. I also introduced the use of Splunk for production monitoring of transactions during the deployment.

CGU was in the midst of a significant Claims Transformation project moving the highly manual, physical document based insurance claims processes to electronic systems. I was seconded to the project team to assist with their release and deployment issues. My key achievements were developing a visual tracker of cross-stream dependencies between 8 agile delivery teams that decreased the outages to the test environment and increased program delivery speed. I also took ownership of the Implementation Runbook across 8 streams, ensuring coverage and accuracy.

The Devops team was responsible for all test and development environments for CGU. I was the manager for a team of 12 engineers and we performed the analysis, configuration, build, assembly, code migration, support and production handover. My key achievements were developing a reference development architecture to support transition from waterfall to agile methodology incorporating a full stack from AS/400 mainframe, WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus middleware and J2EE UI including network topologies, implementing automation build migration and non-production environment monitoring. Integrating Atlassian productivity tools JIRA and Confluence into the build pipeline.

I was part of a team of 6 devops engineers supporting the development and test system for CGU Insurance. The systems we supported were primarily running on WebSphere Application Server v5, v6 & v7 with Apache HTTP servers and were integrated with Mainframe CICS regions. My key responsibility was environment management and planning of integration test environments and Jython scripting via wsadmin of WebSphere servers. In this role I was particularly proud of migrating Ruby style migrate scripts to Jython to support an agile project run by Thoughtworks. I also setup and maintained Hudson & Jenkins CI servers to automatically checkout code from our cvs, svn and git repositories and ran automated UI tests via a selenium farm. This also involved updating Maven and Ant build scripts as well as maintenance of maven repository. We also trialled the use of Redhat Linux to host our environments and Puppet for configuration. I also configured the use of JEE monitoring tool CA Wiley Introscope to monitor resource consumption on the IBM AIX LPAR & VPAR virtualized containers.

In this role I worked on one of Telstra's largest Transformation projects. I was in the Siebel CRM team which included a large onshore team as well as a development centre in Chennai, India. I was responsible for the integration of the technical solution of Business Support Systems with the Operational Support Systems. I was responsible for understanding the capabilities of the packaged Siebel CRM system and what gaps lay to integrate it with Telstra's systems - working with other architects to develop a working solution. This involved writing white-papers, presentations & design documents and negotiating with other stakeholders - often outside of the team.

As a consultant I had the opportunity to lead the SAP Devops team in Beijing where we were developing an SAP Core Banking system for China Minsheng Bank. I mentored 4 analysts in the setup and management of the development and test environments. As we were also developing re-usable assets we also designed and documented the application of the Rational Accenture Delivery Tools using ClearCase, ClearQuest, Requisite Pro and Test Manager.

As a consultant I was on a maintenance team that supported the Online Billing application for Telstra where I had 3 analysts reporting to me. The solution was a J2EE application running on WebSphere Application Server. In addition to providing mentoring and guidance to the team in incident investigation and automation, I also developed the CVS branching and tagging strategy which decreased the number of issues occurring when we performed code merges. This also naturally led to the development and presentation of the Configuration Management plan to the entire development team.

As a consultant I worked in the Technical Architecture team for the Razor project which was a .NET based capital market risk solution for the ANZ Bank. In this role I managed the Windows Server and scripted build migrations using cmd & Powershell scripts. I also built upon my previous performance testing experience to also script and run the Mercury WinRunner and LoadRunner tests including analysis of CPU and memory consumption of the system.

Having spent time as a Devops engineer I was given the opportunity to lead the Devops team again working on Siebel CRM Implementation for National Australia Group Europe where I was mentoring 2 analysts. In this role I worked closely with local (Glasgow) & remote developers (Melbourne) stakeholders to optimise flow of new builds to working test environment but also mentored my team on incident investigation and UNIX scripting techniques. Before leaving for Australia we also needed to hand over the source control tool (Rational ClearCase) and so provided a Source Control management plan for administration and use of ClearCase. During this role I also introduced a wiki for knowledge repository and information sharing tool to help our team and also share knowledge with our client.

This was my first role with Accenture as an Analyst working on a Siebel CRM Implementation for National Australia Group Europe in Glasgow. Initially I was in a team of Java developers integrating Siebel 7.5 Batch architecture with Oracle DB and then moved into a Devops engineer team where I supporting the system and the testing team. My key achievements were developing an MQ scripts to assist the test team in execution but then identified a key system memory leak. I also taught myself and developed awk, sed UNIX scripts to speed up batch testing so much so that these were used for the production cutover. I also learnt about SQL performance tuning on Oracle DB through explain plans and I was the point of contact for ClearCase support in the UK.

I was part of a small team that provided technical services to Telstra's networks and for this role we were developing a system that tapped into Telstra's cable pressure monitors. The solution involved controlling a bank of dial-up modems using VB and storing the collated data into a SQL Server Database and providing that information to the web using ASP.

The Computer Systems Engineering faculty employed a number of students with technical aptitude to also be lab tutors. I thoroughly enjoyed helping other students learn (but also developed my own understanding) topics of:• C++• Xilinx FPGA• Motorola 68HC11 assembly• Cross-compiling C to Atmel AVR microcontrollers

Datatask developed Mainframe tutorials using Adobe Flash and I was part of the Java development team. I developed java modules that read the compiled SWF to replace logo images so the training modules could be tailored for the customer.
