I was part of a team of 6 devops engineers supporting the development and test system for CGU Insurance. The systems we supported were primarily running on WebSphere Application Server v5, v6 & v7 with Apache HTTP servers and were integrated with Mainframe CICS regions. My key responsibility was environment management and planning of integration test environments and Jython scripting via wsadmin of WebSphere servers. In this role I was particularly proud of migrating Ruby style migrate scripts to Jython to support an agile project run by Thoughtworks. I also setup and maintained Hudson & Jenkins CI servers to automatically checkout code from our cvs, svn and git repositories and ran automated UI tests via a selenium farm. This also involved updating Maven and Ant build scripts as well as maintenance of maven repository. We also trialled the use of Redhat Linux to host our environments and Puppet for configuration. I also configured the use of JEE monitoring tool CA Wiley Introscope to monitor resource consumption on the IBM AIX LPAR & VPAR virtualized containers.

Siebel Crm Technical Solution Architect

In this role I worked on one of Telstra's largest Transformation projects. I was in the Siebel CRM team which included a large onshore team as well as a development centre in Chennai, India. I was responsible for the integration of the technical solution of Business Support Systems with the Operational Support Systems. I was responsible for understanding the capabilities of the packaged Siebel CRM system and what gaps lay to integrate it with Telstra's systems - working with other architects to develop a working solution. This involved writing white-papers, presentations & design documents and negotiating with other stakeholders - often outside of the team.

I also learnt about SQL performance tuning on Oracle DB through explain plans and I was the point of contact for ClearCase support in the UK.
