Geethanjali MR is a Ph.D. student at the Urban Studies Institute within the Andrew Young Policy School, GSU. As an urban enthusiast, her interests lie at the intersection of cities, communities, and the environment. She is looking at social environmental justice, inclusion in the built environment, and how these shape an individual’s claim to the city.Her experience spans both public and private sectors, including the role at the New York City Department of City Planning and Studio Recyclebin in Kerala, India, where she engaged in interdisciplinary urban projects, neighborhood planning and design, social campaigns and community-based participatory design. She holds an MS in Urban Design from Pratt Institute and a B.Arch from CAT-University of Kerala. Her current research explores sustainable urban developments, role of community based organizations and participatory approaches across geographies. She is curious about the complexities of urban life and believes in collective action.
