I am a Senior Lecturer and Researcher with extensive experience in the fields of labour studies, migration, gender in labourforce, and social interventions. Currently based at the School of Development, Azim Premji University, Bangalore, I am deeply engaged in researching and addressing critical issues in contemporary India's labor landscape, articulating both with labour rights, and welfare. My research focuses on the complexities of labor in the gig and platform sector, hybrid working models, and the socio-economic impacts of labour migration. I am particularly passionate about advocating for the rights of marginalized groups, including migrants, women, youth, and the the cusp between working class and middle class, in negotiating fair workforce participation.In my current projects, I am documenting long-term street-based labour activism in the street vending and hosiery sectors in Kolkata as part of an archive on "Labour and Livelihoods in Contemporary India." This work involves close collaboration with esteemed organizations such as the National Hawker Federation, the Hawker Sangram Committee, and the Hosiery Workers Unity Centre.Additionally, I have a strong commitment to research ethics for students and peers in the development sector.
