About Geir Thrainsson
During my professional career I have been involved in fishing and seafood through various positions.I started working as a teenager in fishing factories in Iceland. Later as a deck hand on wet-fish and freezer trawlers. When arriving onshore started in QC for a large seafood sales organisation, but moved a year later to sales position within the same company.After taking a MSc degree in London, I moved to Newcastle, England and worked for a secondary fish processing company, which supplied chilled seafood to all the major supermarket chains in the UK. When back in Iceland I worked for an IT company – with my main focus on the fishing/seafood sector.Moved to Spain (Gran Canaria) and spent 7 years as Supply Chain Manager and Branch Manager for companies operating large factory trawlers in West Africa.
