The data center consisted of Intel based servers powered by FreeBSD running Fast Search’s AllTheWeb.com and MultiMedia/FTP/MP3 search engines. I was also the project manager and data center manager for the consolidation of the major data centers within Fast Search & Transfer (designed and supervised the consolidation of the Boston and Santa Clara data centers into a single big data center in Sacramento, CA). All services had fully redundant network and power. High availability, security and monitoring were key elements. Designed and implemented a real time monitoring system capable of notifying 24x7 personnel in case of problems.
