Both roles were very similar. As an Insurance Underwriter I dealt with enquiries from CommercialBusinesses requiring business specific insurance policies which I underwrote. I dealt directly with insurance brokers and provided a very high level of customer service to retain business and gain further leads for the company. Unfortunately I was mid way through studying for my first CII exam when the department moved to Newcastle and so I was unable to complete the qualification.As a Pensions Administrator I manually calculated Pension Forecasts for employees of CharitableOrganisations, answering Pension queries where necessary and dealing with Customer requests.In 2002 I took a 1 year break to travel and was hoping to return to either insurance underwriting or pensions work but was unable to find an appropriate post on my return.
