We are looking for Students and Employers in Swale and Medway to take part in Supported Internships.What are Supported Internships?Supported Internships are a study programme lasting a year which aims to provide real work experience for young people who need some extra support. The aim of the programme is for the young person to obtain paid work at the end. The young person must have an EHCP in place but there are no academic requirements to take part. All they need is a desire to work and the willingness to achieve this. bemix We are people with and without learning difficulties in Kent working together to achieve equality. bemix is also a social enterprise. As a Community Interest Company, all our profit is put back into supporting the work we do. We support people with learning difficulties to speak up, make choices and become powerful and influential. We support them to gain opportunities and become more independent in learning, housing, work, health, money, travel, leisure and relationships. We support people to hear, respect and empower people with learning difficulties. We promote positive action to challenge negative attitudes about disability. We work with local communities so that people with learning difficulties become fully included and no longer segregated.To Summarise We are offering a route into work for young people with an EHCP living in Swale and Medway. We provide personalised support and a tailored package for a yearlong study programme which will be spent largely at a work placement. The aim is to gain paid employment at the end.
