I worked at Tailor Made Technologies which is a managed service provider that supports a wide range of customers in upgrading and managing their IT environments. I first started off as an Outsource IT Engineer where I became certified in Prince2 and was placed on secondment to the Projects team. I have now been working in the Projects department for several years. During one time, I will have roughly 30 projects on the go ranging in different sizes and complexities. I have worked with a number of different customers including a public school, utility companies, care homes, law firms, safari parks, grocery franchise stores and marine & boatyard specialists. This variety of customers has allowed me to assist in a diverse range of organisations and learn the differences between companies and their key values.

Winchester

During my apprenticeship, I was employed by the Winchester College ICT Department as an ICT services technician to help support the growing ICT infrastructure of the School. After proving myself in the role for 2 years, I was promoted to Senior ICT Technician with direct management responsibilities over the other technicians. Alongside this management role, my duties included supporting the network infrastructure and servers, ensuring the school’s firewalls and internet filtering system was set appropriately and ensuring staff and students were happy with IT systems in place.As well as maintaining the IT systems, I helped plan and set up for a number of different events that took place around the school. Winchester College would annually hold ‘Studium’ events throughout the year where 60+ guest speakers would come into the school to give a presentation to the students on a number of different topics. I would be responsible for planning of which venue they would use for the presentation and what equipment the speakers would require for their presentation. As well as ‘Studium’ days, I have additionally helped organise and set up a number of different events, including conferences, banquets and exams.I also attended committee meetings with the Head of ICT to discuss, schedule and implement future ICT projects throughout the school. Additionally, I had taken on a project management role that involved organising and introducing a new IT system throughout the school. The project lasted 8 months and required several month’s worth of planning and organising to ensure it was rolled out correctly, efficiently and to schedule.

Christchurch

I did an apprenticeship with Training Associates with my work placement being at Highcliffe St Mark Primary school. This apprenticeship helped me to achieve my Comp TIA A+ Certification.

New Milton

Being ever keen to work I secured a job with Peverel to work for 1½ hours every Monday to Friday after school assisting with outstanding requests from secretaries and negotiators as well as archiving, handling cheques, franking the post, mail outs, inputting data into the work database and taking calls.
