Sept 20013 - Dec 2003: 3 months Basic Common Training covering seas survival, first aid, fire fighting, small arms use, parade drill, leadership & team building principals and general Naval knowledge necessary for a career in the RNZN.Jan 2004 - March 2004: Able Write Course -Support branch selected career in the RNZN. Topics learnt Defence Payroll, HR Administration, Customer Service. Gained working knowledge on computer applications involving Windows, Excel, Microsoft Office, Naval Document Management System and ATLAS System (Defence Force computerised Personnel Pay & Management Information System).March 2004 - October 2004 Situated at NAVPAC (Naval Pay & Administration Centre) to complete task book for promotion to Able Writer (promoted in October 2004). Daily work at NAVPAC consisted of; administering personal records, updating pay records, data management and various office related tasks.November 2004 - February 2005 Posted to HMNZS Canterbury (at sea) to carry out general ship duties and tasks specific to the Writer branch. a member of the standing sea emergency party. Daily checking and refilling of all BA's (breathing apparatus's for firefighters). BA controller in Emergency situations and drills. responsible for timing the oxygen in fire fighters oxygen tanks.March 2005 - July 2006 NAVPAC as Leading Writer Operations (a role senior to my rank).along with general office duties, task delegation and management of a small team were required.August 2006 - April 2007 Navy Recruiting Headquarters. Leading Writer role (senior to my rank) enlistments of new personnel into the RNZN. Consisted of coordinating enlistments of new personnel from around the country and overseas. Oct 2006 - Nov 2006: Leading Writers Course. A course designed for promotion to the next rank. Course provided training and upskilling to work at a higher level.
