About Gemma Gilfeather
I am a Sociology & Social Policy graduate with over 8 years experience working in the third sector. I am always keen to enhance my practice and during this time I have gained SVQ’s in both Health & Social Care and Children & Young People. I have also completed training in First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, ASSIST, ACES and the Blues Approach to name a few. My roles have been focused on supporting young people and their families at home, in the community and in educational settings. This includes those who have been at risk of offending, struggling with school attainment, young carers and those with additional support needs. Through this I have learned how to build meaningful relationships and provide person centred support to those who access the services. Currently I am a Youth Development Lead for the Princes Trust. I am comfortable working independently as in this role I manage a case load of Educational Partners across multiple local authorities and support them to deliver our Achieve Qualification. In addition, I help to set up and support or facilitate programmes for young people such as our ‘Enterprise Challenge’, ‘Bridging the App’ and many other enrichment opportunities. I am a confident public speaker, as I deliver training to our partners, both face to face and virtually as well as hosting networking meetings within our centre and the community. I have a keen interest in ensuring young people get the support and opportunities that are right for them, at the time they need it, to help them achieve their goals and find a positive pathway in life.
