I am a botanist, ecologist and environmental scientist with over 10 years experience working throughout North and Far North Queensland as well as Papua New Guinea. During this time I have developed an excellent knowledge of the local flora and vegetation communities present in the region. Prior to this I worked in landscape restoration in New South Wales, where I obtained a practical knowledge of a variety of on-ground techniques aimed at restoring degraded landscapes and improving conservation outcomes for at-risk species and communities.Prior to my current role with Energy Queensland, I was self employed as an environmental consultant. Between 2012-2022 I worked at Biotropica Australia, a niche consultancy located in Far North Queensland, which specialised in terrestrial and restoration ecology. My role there primarily focused on tropical botany and ecology where I regularly undertook botanical field surveys and ecological assessments across the Far North. I have extensive knowledge in the flora of the Wet Tropics and Cape York Peninsula Bioregions and have also worked in Papua New Guinea, from the lowland savannah to the upland rainforests of the Southern Highlands. I am considered a Suitably Qualified Person under the Nature Conservation Act 1992.My experience includes, but is not limited to;- Threatened species management and planning; - Environmental impact assessment; - Flora and fauna assessment, including protected plant surveys; - Weed assessment, planning and management;- Rehabilitation planning, monitoring and auditing;- Ecological monitoring;- BioCondition assessments, and more. I also have an excellent understanding of statutory and policy frameworks at the Local, State and Commonwealth level.With previous experience in bush land management and natural area restoration, I have a keen interest in conservation as well as all aspects of plant ecology.I am an avid student of tropical botany and continuously aim to expand my knowledge of local tropical flora. I am actively involved in local botanical and natural history groups and continue to increase my botanical knowledge through travelling and exploring the natural environments of Far North Queensland.
