My name is Gemma Young and I will be graduating my Bachelor of Nursing from Griffith University in 2021. I am currently seeking employment to pursue my career as a Registered Nurse at the beginning of 2022, I have been on many placements throughout my degree where I have been able to put into practice safe and holistic care for my patients in varying healthcare environments. I am currently working in a residential aged care facility in Logan where I have been working since December 2020. Through this work and my previous employment in retail I have developed skills for effective communication and professionalism when in contact with consumers. While I have enjoyed working in many areas of healthcare on my clinical placements I am still looking for a department that I will thrive in. I value having a strong work team who share similar morals when it comes to providing care for patients, who are willing to provide assistance, and work colleagues who respect each other and the people we care for. I am committed to learning and completing tasks with all of my effort. Throughout my degree I have maintained a very good GPA and my hard work has been recognised by Griffith University and I have been awarded the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence in 2019 and 2020. Along with this I am a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society which was offered to me due to my commitment to learning. I have completed an Acute Cardiac Care Course provided by Health Ed Professionals in February of 2021 to improve my knowledge of identifying potential patient deterioration caused by cardiac malfunction.
