I’m like a deer in the headlights when it comes to selling myself, so here’s a few titbits about me in case you’re interested. 1) I hate the question, “what do you do?” Given that life gets in the way for so many people, I believe (IMHO) the question should be “what do you aspire to do?”.2) My passion for behavioural change ignited towards the end of my bachelor’s degree. My heart was set on venturing into the juvenile justice arena with research ideas about how to prevent recidivism among vulnerable youth. Unfortunately… my dream career was derailed by a permanent move overseas and I was forced into reinvention by relocation. 3) People call me ‘vegemite’… seriously, I even wrote a short story about it (featured below). Now, being an ‘agent of change’ and a practitioner of positive framing, I embrace the idea that I might be labelled a ‘disruptor’. No stranger to creating and implementing new ways of doing, I’ve certainly been known to ruffle a few feathers by challenging the status quo. In my defence… the world is not static and, in most cases, things can always be improved (and yes… that applies to me too).4) I can’t remember when my penchant for sustainability started. Maybe it’s the fact that I was born in a town that no longer exists, because the land was raped for asbestos and then declared unlivable for the next bazillion years! Or maybe it’s because I live in a densely populated city with poor infrastructure and horrendous air quality. I just know that solving sustainability problems of the 'wicked' variety is what I aspire to do, and I'm eminently capable of doing it. 5) Although I haven’t written any books or papers of an important nature (yet), I did win a music scholarship when I was young (music is important right?), and I have a huge list of community focused, planet-saving ideas that I’m keen to explore (and write about), so watch this space! Remember… impressive thought leadership starts with erm… thoughts! 6) I’m sadly monolingual, despite being a first generation Australian on my father’s side - an unfortunate side-effect of obsessive assimilation (thanks for that Nanna!). But… I do have a very mild superpower that I think is pretty cool – a semi-photographic memory for number strings 😁
