Visual Merchandiser For Central European General Hardlines

Shire Park, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire

I was a Visual Merchandiser for Central Europe General Hardlines specialising in Home. My role required me to use the JDA and Citrix programs to create planograms for seasonal range changes and promotions. I worked closely with the Buyers, Merchandisers and Marketing department to ensure we had the correct information in Excel so I could make informed decisions on how to display the products in mock displays at the Merchandising Center and finalise them in JDA to be sent out to each country. I worked to very strict deadlines and had weekly conference calls to the individual countries to build excellent relationships and discuss any feedback or issues they had with implementing the planograms in their countries. To further my development I styled for online shopping and the Home catalogue at our photography studios.

Mar 2013 - Nov 2015

Visual Merchandiser

Oxford Street, London

I was a team leader for the windows team, which comprised of designing, preparing and implementing the store windows whilst supporting the team and guiding the newer members of the team. When managing my projects I had to research and contact companies we would like to use and negotiate deals and prices. One of my favorite projects was to create the look of a run down warehouse for a fashion window. To complete this look I wanted to build a brick wall with old reclaimed bricks, so I had to source these by researching companies that provided the best price and could deliver to central London. I managed to find a very old oil filled radiator which I borrowed from the maintenance team and I wanted to have a brick wall background, which after experimenting with various options I discovered the most effective result was by using a wallpaper with a photographed brick wall printed onto it.I created a Royal Ascot window with white picket fences, grass, flowers, expensive fashion pieces, champagne and had the appearance of a British summer day. I designed the picket fence and pergola using CAD and had the workshop studio team make it. I decided to use fake grass, which I found difficult to source as there are so many companies available with many possibilities of grass types. I had to complete this particular window within 10 days, so I had no time to request samples of the grass, which needed to look as realistic as possible but at the same time keep within a very tight budget. I added real daisies and other potted plants to complete the look which were sourced free of charge by our in house florists Jane Packer. This window was filmed for ITV which resulted in me being asked to lead a project working with ITV's This Morning's Design a Party Dress competition which lead to me being featured in the John Lewis magazine. While I was creating the brick fashion window and the ITV projects I took on the project to design and plan the Christmas windows for all 23 windows.

Visual Merchandising Manager

Uxbridge

I was employed for the position of Visual Merchandising Manager. My main priority in this role was to increase sales by creating inspiring displays. There are several ways in which I aimed to achieve this, such as ensuring the windows are as strong visually as possible, changing the general layout of the store, keeping the men, women, children and baby mannequins looking fresh and inspiring by modifying the outfits to promote an outstanding shopping environment. Excellent customer service was also important in my role. I would convey with other managers through our weekly conference calls any ideas and displays which worked well .

Originally employed as a sales associate within the business, I was fully trained in till and customer service, including processing orders for bespoke furniture and upholstery, including delivery arrangements and Interest Free Credit payments.Soon after this I was promoted to the role of visual merchandising assistant and am now fully trained. My role included:- training new visual merchandisers to the company, planning departments ,planning and setting up store layouts ; which included deciding and ordering which pieces of furniture and upholstery to display in the store and where to put them, dress room sets and style them - with emphasis on the colours and textures used. The moves were then photographically recorded and shared amongst other branches in a best practice programme, occasionally making them into PowerPoint presentations for the regional Managers. Sales analysis played an important role and weekly the figures were assessed so weaker products could be promoted and best sellers backed. I had weekly conference calls and meetings with the store manager and sales managers to plan where and how to merchandise and display the products which were under performing.
