Some of my core responsibilities in this role were as follows:- Development of highly scalable server-side code (PHP)- Development of rich user experiences with Javascript and HTML5- Maintenance and bug fixes of Learnosity core web applications- Evaluating and researching new technologies as required- Working within teams to manage projects from inception to completion- Ensuring that documentation is kept up to date

Some of the things I worked on during my time at Finder:- Helped to build and maintain the internal design system, Luna- Helped to build some components in a React.js component library hosted on the CDN using Storybook.js to create an interactive, living component library based on Luna- Worked as part of a team that performed a site-wide refresh in order to improve the overall user experience of the site and make it more consistent by creating a new masthead with multiple… Show more Some of the things I worked on during my time at Finder:- Helped to build and maintain the internal design system, Luna- Helped to build some components in a React.js component library hosted on the CDN using Storybook.js to create an interactive, living component library based on Luna- Worked as part of a team that performed a site-wide refresh in order to improve the overall user experience of the site and make it more consistent by creating a new masthead with multiple variations, this had the added bonus of reducing the bounce rate by 25% wherever it was placed on the site- Worked on a hack day project to champion and improve accessibility at Finder across the wider business, we made lots of small incremental improvements that bumped the Lighthouse Accessibility score by ~40% (the average page score before the changes was 63.66, and the average page score after was 88.46)- Co-wrote and introduced engineering accessibility standards that all of the team needed to adhere to when writing and contributing code- Worked as part of a team focused on speed and site performance that made the following site-wide improvements: Implemented lazy-loading of images and videos, set up self-hosting of site fonts, used Calibre to monitor and improve user-focused speed metrics such as first meaningful paint, visually complete and page interactive- Co-founded the engineering diversity working group that worked to improve the language used in job ads to make them more inclusive, ensured women got sufficient interview training and were involved in interviewing panels and regularly held leadership accountable to making the company a more inclusive place to work- Co-founded the Finder Tech Engineering blog: https://medium.com/finder-tech- Created an engineering working group that facilitated and helped other developers run internal masterclasses, therefore sharing knowledge across the wider team and encouraged learning Show less
