Applied Anthropologist | Strategy Consultant | Impact LeadI was awarded my PhD in 2009, and now conduct academically rigorous and strategic research to advise organisations on social impact (socio-economic development, social equity, just transition) and climate action (net zero, decarbonisation) within the built environment. I also give guidance around issues of corporate governance and transformation.An anthropologist by training, I began my built environment career in 2014 with AECOM and Foster + Partners in London. In 2017, I established Human City and have since worked with private, public and nonprofit organisations across Europe and Africa, carrying out research and establishing ways to drive positive change through the utilisation of real estate. By partnering with organisations across the entire value chain (investment, development, management and operation), I help to define, design, deliver and demonstrate sustained value – not just for shareholders, but also for people and planet. I’ve completed courses in Real Estate Economics and Finance at the London School of Economics and Impact Investing in Africa at the University of Cape Town. I'm an Honorary Research Fellow at University College London's Department of Anthropology and Adjunct Faculty at University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainable Leadership. I'm a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and a Winston Churchill Fellow.I’m currently based in Cape Town (with frequent trips to London and elsewhere).
