It proved to be a very interesting contrast to my involvement in the Closing Ceremony of the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010. In addition to my normal duties, I had to very quickly gain new skills, design staff training and pass these skills on to my team members as well as be involved in the recruitment and training of a vast number of temporary staff. I was also involved in significant planning and preparation surrounding the delivery of hospitality and events and food and beverage service for the Games to a diverse range of people, from staff and volunteers, through security and armed forces personnel to athletes, visiting dignitaries, corporate bodies, sponsors, VIPs and Royalty. This planning in itself was highly diverse from designing, ordering and scheduling delivery of place settings and table linens, through presenting our offering to the Sponsors and Organising Committee and room and venue planning, to delivery of the events simultaneously over a diverse range of rooms and event areas, all offering vastly different service from mass catering, to five star dining. It was at all times a learning experience from which I grew and developed personally and professionally and of which I am extremely proud.
