I'm currently volunteering as a teaching assistant, until I commence my PGCE at Durham Uni. I have over 10 years’ experience in the floods, water and environment, and emergency planning industries, and am a chartered member of CIWEM, and currently the team leader of the surface water team at URS melbourne. I was a technical specialist in pluvial, fluvial and coastal hydraulic modelling, hydrology and hydrological modelling; integrated water management plans/water cycle studies, stakeholder engagement, emergency planning with particular emphasis on flood dam safety emergency planning. I also have extensive experience with ANCOLD dam break consequence assessments. I'm experienced in using TUFLOW, ISIS, HEC-RAS, RORB, WINFAP-FEH for a range of modelling projects.Ive worked for a range of clients and developed excellent communication and stakeholder liaison skills. I have vast experience in stakeholder engagement including some quite hostile audiences. I have engaged with members of the public outlining flood risk management strategies and their potential impacts on their communities, and have lead the production of multi-agency flood plans.I have been a volunteer catechist in my parish, teaching religious education to children from non Catholic schools. My classes have ranged from 20-40 students of ages 7-15yrs. I have also been a volunteer teaching assistant in primary and secondary schools in the UK and Australia, teaching in all classes and have participated in maths and English assessments of the children.I have considerable experience in working with SEN children, autistic children in particular. I find working with less or differentially abled children particularly rewarding.Personally, I'm a member of the St Vincent de Paul Society and carry out visits to families in need at weekends, and I'm actively involved in my parish church as a liturgical minister, and adult and child catechist via our parish RCIA and child sacramental preparation programmes.
