Genavieve Koenigshofer is a young professional working towards a career in public service through education and health reform. Currently, Genavieve is a 2024-2025 Coro Fellow in Public Affairs in Los Angeles, California, where she hopes to learn more about public policy and administration across sectors in California's largest metropolitan area. She is a recent graduate from UC San Diego with a B.A. in Public Policy, a B.S. in Developmental Psychology, and a minor in Global Health. She will pursue a Masters in Public Policy at UC Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy in Fall 2025.Genavieve firmly believes that responsible policymakers should have a background in the fields they legislate. Her interest in education politics dates back to her senior year of high school, where she became the student board member on the Capistrano Unified School District’s Board of Trustees. Upon entering college, she joined the leadership team of GENup, a student-led educational advocacy organization with over 1,000 student members across the nation. During her undergraduate years at UC San Diego, she was very involved in advocacy on campus, fighting for comprehensive disability services reform and affordable housing opportunities through Associated Students. In addition, Genavieve's academic background in global health and developmental psychology equips her to advocate for the improvement of public health - particularly for children and adolescents, which overlaps extensively with education reform. Her research at the Comparative Cognition Lab, where she leads a study on internalized gender roles in young children, is one of many ways she seeks to understand youth cognition. To hone her skills as a public servant, Genavieve has also explored various internships with the American Civil Liberties Union and the offices of Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, California Senator Scott Wiener, and Assemblywoman Tasha Boerner.
