Biochemist and Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Chile, with a strong background in molecular biology. In 2011 I transitioned from academic science to clinical research in cancer, working as a Clinical Scientist at Clínica Las Condes (CLC), the first JCI accredited clinic in Chile, and one of the premier institutions in Latin America. During his time at CLC, I developed and implemented clinical genetic tests for hereditary breast cancer and medullary thyroid cancer based on Sanger sequencing. I also participated in the interpretation of genetic variants, writing and signing of clinical reports. Additionally, I assisted the clinical group with the design, writing and development of research projects. In March 2014, I joined Invitae, a genetic information company specialized in genetic diagnostics for hereditary disorders based in San Francisco, California, as Clinical Director for its Latin America headquarters in Santiago, Chile. There, I worked closely with the clinical genomics team and international commercial teams to bring novel next-generation sequencing based technologies and high-quality medical grade genetic testing to market in Latin America. I regularly visited the headquarters in San Francisco, and worked in clinical interpretation.
