Field Artillery Captain's Career Course (FACCC) provides a challenging course of instruction to prepare students for the next phase of their army career in a small-group learning environment. The FACCC competencies for Captains: demonstrate the ability to think critically within Unified Land Operations, possess the ability to provide adaptive and flexible leadership, conduct problem solving, conduct Field Artillery operations planning, synchronize Fire Support assets with maneuver, and demonstrate mastery of battery level operations. Career Course students' are taught with an emphasis on "how to think" and not "what to think." FACCC students are expected to be mature, responsible, and dedicated officers.

Ft. Hood, Tx And Camp Hovey, Republic Of Korea

My responsibilities included planning and coordinating artillery and close air support for a reconnaissance squadron (approximately 400 personnel). Also responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of consolidated and focused fire support training for the Squadron's 20 fire supporters, composed of a Squadron fire support cell and 3 fire support teams and directly responsible for the training and readiness of the fire support cell, consisting of 1 NCO and 4 Soldiers. In his absence, I also assumed the duties of the Squadron Fire Support Officer.

I served as the Platoon Leader for a M109A6 Paladin Platoon, part of a Paladin Battery in a Medium Self-Propelled Field Artillery Battalion. Ultimately responsible for the Platoon's ability to deliver accurate and timely lethal Fires in combat. Responsible for the planning and execution of individual and collective training of 35 Soldiers towards mission readiness of the Platoon in support of the Battery and Battalion mission to provide Fires in support of the Brigade Commander. Responsible for operational readiness of 3 M109A6 Paladins, 3 M992A2 Ammunition Carriers, and other equipment valued in excess of $8 million.

I served as the principal advisor to the Company Commander in the employment of artillery, mortars and close air support in support of an armor company task organized as a motorized infantry company. Responsible for Joint Fires planning for all company operations in a deployed environment. Supervised the company fire support team, consisting of 1 NCO and 3 Soldiers, as well as 1 Air Force Joint Terminal Air Controller. I also filled the additional duties of Headquarters Platoon leader, in which I led and supervised 35 Soldiers and NCOs in low-density occupational specialties; and as the Company Intelligence Support Team Officer in Charge, in which I supervised the collection and synthesis of patrol debriefs and the creation of intelligence summaries from various higher echelons to support company operations.

FABOLC introduces students to the US Army Officer Corps and reinforces knowledge of Army Values in order to better understand officer culture. After an initial period of instruction in Army culture and officership, the course focuses intensively on core Field Artillery competencies in order to forge students into competent, confident and adaptive integrators of lethal and non-lethal fires in the operational force.

West Point, Ny

I assisted in the teaching, mentoring, and counseling of 120 cadets on how to navigate through West Point and become future leaders of character for our Army. I monitored their physical, and military performance. Additionally I provided individual counseling for all cadets on their strengths and weaknesses and mentorship for future service as Army Lieutenants. I was a key support figure for all cadet personal/family problems and implemented conflict resolution techniques when/where needed. Finally, I assisted the Company Tactical Officer in mentoring the cadet chain of command to guide and assist them in running a peer-led organization.
