Served as Clinical Engineering Consultant to the Associate Vice President of Hospital Operations upon retiring as the Director of Clinical Engineering Services on August 31, 2017.

Function as a primary administrative contact for executive leadership on Healthcare Technology Management and related issues. Direct activities of the Clinical Engineering Services Department in the selection, procurement, and delivery process of biomedical equipment and services. Ensure all program elements are designed and implemented to comply with The Joint Commission, other regulatory and inspection agency requirements, guidelines, and standards. Develop annual goals and objectives related to supporting the growth and development of clinical engineering in response to present and future needs. Develop and manage annual operating budget of the Clinical Engineering Department which encompass more than 30,000 medical devices within the main campus and off-site clinics. Manage thirty (30) full time employees, administrative, Clinical Engineers, and Medical Equipment Technicians.Duties include but not limited to the following: Develop and implement consistent policies and procedures that guide and support functions of the Clinical Engineering Department. Develop and meet goals with respect to Healthcare Technology in support of strategic plan. Provide clinical engineering resources to manage medical equipment planning for construction projects involving biomedical equipment at all sites.Provide clinical engineering resources to participate in the investigation and reporting of medical device related incidents. Provide clinical engineering resources to participate in the medical device hazard and recall notification program. Integrate management of biomedical equipment maintenance at all sites. Optimize annual capital purchasing power by identifying opportunities to consolidate purchases across sites and fiscal years. Negotiate system-wide service agreements with vendors where appropriate. Administer Medical Equipment Management Plan to key performance measures.Active member of Environment of Care Committee

Operating Room Technology Support Group: Developed and implemented a new service model for Clinical Engineering Services that supports clinical procedures and reduced turnover time and medical device failure in the operating rooms. Supervised and trained a team of 9 Clinical Engineers with responsibilities of medical device repair and preventative maintenance, set up and validation of all medical devices prior to surgical procedure start, to include all image guidance procedures, laser procedures, open heart procedures, endoscopy procedures, urology procedures and audio/visual integration to include broadcasting.Worked with Peri-operative team leadership in developing strategic plans for budgeting and replacement of medical devices, medical device evaluations and special projects. Worked closely with all surgeons and anesthesiologist on a daily basis to ensure that their clinical support and equipment needs were met.

Senior Biomedical Equipment Technician responsible for managing the medical device equipment repair and maintenance of 37 Clinics including Pediatric Dialysis and water treatment for Dialysis. Assigned to Pediatric Project as soon as the on boarding process completed which included incoming inspection, setup and validation of all medical devices on the wing, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Sleep Lab, and Pediatric Dialysis. The wing went live February15th, 2001. This also included certifying the water treatment system for Pediatric dialysis over the next year, responsible for setting up the microbiological sampling process, analyzing and documenting results, communicating with Infection Disease.

Assigned to the Engineering Department, I design water treatment systems for Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Industrial companies. I also project managed the installation and start up of those systems. Managed up to fifteen (15) projects on a continuous basis.

Service Manager for the Midwest which encompassed 10 states with responsibilities covering the installation of new water treatment systems, repair and maintenance of those systems, contract renewal of service agreements, managing of Build, Own, Operate, systems, (BOO) at US Steel, Gary Indiana, Commonwealth Edison, LaSalle, Illinois, management of vehicle fleet, and the development of a customer service department at the local branch. Directly responsible for managing more than 20 direct reports, administrative staff and Field Service Engineers.

Technical Service Manager responsible for repair and maintenance of medical devices located in dialysis clinics covering three (3) states, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Managed up to fourteen (14) Biomedical Engineers assigned to those facilities.

Supervised five support staff to include Biomedical Equipment Technicians, Dialysis Reuse Technicians, and Supply Technicians.

Michigan State Police Officer for approximately 6 years

Non Commissioned Officer in charged of the 379th Strategic Air Command Military Working Dog Section, Law Enforcement. Managed ten Law Enforcement teams (handler and dog) which included Narcotic Detector Dogs, Explosive Detector Dogs, and Patrol Dogs. Provided law enforcement support on base and security support for 379th B-52 Bomb Wing.
