Immediately out of school I entered the sales world. My Father and Grandfather were sales people so I guess it's in the blood. That said, I posess a trait that some talented salespeople lack. I am computer literate and organized. When the "personal computer" started out, I was on the ground floor with Tandy Corporation. One of my favorite pieces of software was Visicalc. It was the precursor to what we all know now as Excel. It was loaded into the computer on cassette tapes and had 24 rows by 24 columns. I taught myself how to use this great tool and have evolved with spreadsheet software as they developed over the past 30 years. I am always looking to improve my skills toward my pursuit of perfection.

These two tools have been a constant work in progress. I decided to teach myself how to develop these after I got frustrated at the vendors that would be slow to make the changes that I desired. Both products have helped me achieve solid numbers with solid presentation to my clients. As of March of 2021, I have started using DocuPad as a presentation tool. DocuPad Update: After 9 months of using DocuPad, my numbers have increased significantly and I have become proficient using the product. I look forward to using DocuPad the rest of my career!

Then after a year as lease manager, I was promoted to sales manager, then new car sales manager. Schaumburg Honda Automobiles is a very large volume dealer and a great place to learn the automobile business. I still employee the skills I learned there.

Store ManagerRadio Shack/Tandy Corporation Nov 1979 - Mar 1986During school, I worked part time in sales at a local Radio Shack store. I was recognized for my sales ability, and was offered a position as assistant manager. I left school to pursue a career here. At the age of 19, I was offered my first store to manage. I was the youngest store manager in the nation at the time. The store I was given was in sad shape. It was dirty and unorganized. I cleaned it up, ordered the right mix of inventory, and customers started coming back. Sales gains over previous year were over 100%. This quickly got me promoted to other stores, and eventually one of the biggest volume stores in the midwest. I loved this job, however, working Sundays was starting to wear on me. I had a friend selling cars at Schaumburg Honda, so I made the move to the automobile business.
