Powered by a passion for brands - from disruption, growth, to perception. Driven by purpose and authenticity.Disruption, breaking through the clutter, thinking outside the box - all things we hope for from our companies/people but not always achieved. This is because we all work so hard getting to know how our organisations work that we often forget our why, our purpose, who we are talking to, whats important to them and what isn't. In a time of hyper connectivity, how do you disrupt the market? How do you become top of mind to your consumer without losing that company 'gees'? Over my years of working in communications and marketing I have learnt that it isn't the 'yes man' that comes out on top, but rather the one who goes against the norm and disrupts the way things have been thought about. I am driven, passionate, loyal and do what it takes to make a change - I am about creating authentic experiences/content/ideas in a peer to peer economy, that isn't just business as usual. My objective is to bring about change and allow for growth.Specialties: Communications (internal, external, investor relations, crisis comms, c-suite), Advertising, Digital Marketing, strategies

Started at BDO as the Communications Manager in a marketing department of four (Head of Marketing, Events Coordinator, Graphic Designer, Communications Manager) with little to no marketing budget. By 2021, there were 15 people in the department, I was the second in charge to the Head of Marketing and we had grown BDO into a brand. My role was spread across the brand. I looked after all internal and external communications (including the crisis communication and planning for the Firm as well as all marketing and communications related policies), manage all agencies, develop brand/marketing/communications strategies and brief agencies as well as present to EXCO and Shareholders, run LinkedIn and Media training for the Firm as well as a few soft skills training (presentation skills, business writing), I managed the company website and all Marktech (working closely with our CRM Marketing coordinator) and social pages. I started the companies LinkedIn page and grew it organically to 60 000 followers in over 3 years. I have run many internal and external events for the Firm, including our prestigious annual Budget Speech event and our Annual Partners Conference, to planning our Clarity Charter Round Table events.I also assisted the C-suite with their respective communication as needed. I worked closely with the CEO to draft his speeches and presentations and manage the general messaging for the Firm.Committees:- BDO Global PR Committee- BDO Global Website Committee- BDO Global Digital Marketing Committee- BDO Global Intranet Committee- BDO SA Sustainability Working Group

During my time at Ogilvy I was the Senior Account Manager on the KFC account - biggest account on the Johannesburg Ogilvy campus. My role was to look for story ideas/ways to tell KFC's story in order to reach their target audience. Not always easy when working with a product as the media don't always want to talk product - this meant looking for innovative and niche ways of promoting content, developing content and publishing content. My role also involved digital marketing, working closely with the advertising team to ensure we COPE - create once publish everywhere. This has given me an integrated view of my role rather than a (often) separated approach.

Being the Client Services Manager/ Digital Campaigns Manager for Telkom and homeware brand - Russel Hobbs was no easy feat. Russel Hobbs involved straight forward product marketing, website redesign, campaigns, social media management, competitions etc. While Telkom was a little trickier - being part of the Y&R team, Mediacom team, Aqua team and Base2 team (known as Team Telkom) meant taking an overview of the entire brands happenings (product developments, company developments, staff changes, public scrutiny) and working as a team to create one piece of content (direct marketing campaigns/advertising campaign/digital campaign/social campaign) that would manage the brands reputation, disrupt the market, stand out from competitors, while still appeasing staff and clients. This was by far my most difficult role - but one that involved a lot of team work, out of the box thinking, direct marketing plans/initiatives, people management, crisis management and hard-sell to senior teams stuck in their own world of thinking. I was also very involved in the redesign of Telkom's current website.

Having started at Fleishman as an intern, I was very fortunate to have been molded into the Communications Professional I am today, having begun my internship across various Financial Services Accounts doing daily reports, weekly reports, monthly reports, media monitoring, media motivations and pitching - I was ready for the next challenge. As I grew at Fleishman so did my responsibilities, client interaction, people management and skill. In my almost five years there, I had been trained, upskilled and groomed - I could present, handle a client like a pro, put together a strategy, write and understand organisations and people. I also began dabbling in digital marketing in my time at there and even won the Fleishman-Hillard Digital Novice Award for my campaigns for clients. It was at this time that, my intrigue into digital pushed me away from PR. My clients included (but not limited to) - Financial Services brands such as Visa (including being fully involved in their FIFA Soccer World Cup 2010 sponsorship and their opening of their office in Kenya), FNB, WesBank, Liberty Life, Ma'Afrika Tikkun, SBV, SA Banking Association, The Automobile Association, Columinate.
