Provides proactive plan reviews for facilities in the design phases and during construction for access and means of egress relative to disabled accessibility. Reviews are typically performed multiple times during the design at Schematic, Design Development and Construction Document phases to verify that the design addresses the accessibility needs of the disabled community. These reviews are based on the Federal standards adopted for the specific facility (i.e. ADA, Title II, ADA Title III, ABAAS, DoD, GSA, VA, FHA, UFAS, etc.). Additionally, state and municipal codes are reviewed to address the applicable provisions by the state and local entities.For existing facilities and recent construction, performs on-site surveys of in-situ conditions. Evaluations of existing accessible elements are based on a multi-faceted approach: compliance with state/federal barrier removal requirements, compliance with applicable accessibility regulations at the time of construction; and, recommendations based on current and proposed accessibility standards and regulations.Provides FHA Compliance training. This program is intended to address obligations under FHA Consent Decrees by the Department of Justice as well as provide general useful information on the Fair Housing Act and Owner/Architect obligations.Actively participates at ICC and NFPA code development as well as the ICC/ANSI A117.1 Standard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities. He is knowledgeable in the history and background for code changes.

Representative for the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) to the ICC/ANSI A117.1. In this capacity, responsibilities include advocation to the committee for issues relative to the motion picture presentation industry and participation in issues for accessibility for the disabled.

Involved in the development of the International Building Code in the 1990's. Served on the IFC code development committee, the IBC-Fire Safety code development committee, for several code change cycles and most recently on the IBC-Means of Egress Code Development Committee which oversees IBC's Chapter 11 code changes on accessibility scoping requirements.Additionally, Gene is a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Assembly Occupancies and Membrane Structures relative to the Life safety Code (NFPA 101 and the Building Construction and Safety Code (NFPA 5000).

As staff at one of the legacy model code groups provided staff interps, presented seminars and served at code hearings.

The company is now no longer in business from what I hear. At the time it was on the forefront of CAD technology for drawing and design. My position included responsibilities for drafting and design of architectural aspects of industrial facilities as well as preparation of specifications and other written construction documents.
