Owner, Howe Production Management
CurrentDuring my years as a live event producer I’ve come to the conclusion Producing a live event is like being the head coach of a major-league sport. It’s probably best if you weren’t a star athlete, you have to manage multiple masters; owners, players, the press, your fan base. Budgets matter and If you win, everyone else gets the credit and if you lose it’s your job to explain what you did wrong. While this analogy can apply to other jobs, I have learned producing a successful live event is much more than just putting the players on the field. The key is having the all the skills required to quickly asses and adapt to all the dynamics that are at play during the course of producing an event. From initial concept and budgeting to “doors” and that moment when the last road case is pushed out of the venue. It is during this course of events where I pride myself in my ability to assess the key players, their communication styles and how they each define a “great show” to bring together the hundreds of ever changing details across dozens of disciplines included in a live event.
