About Gene L.
Welcome to my “UnFaceBook” page-Follow me😊-No ads, surveillance, or clickbait😁🙏Just democracy, breakthroughs, science, insights, humor❤️I’m an innovative research scientist, educator, author, and entrepreneur with a broad and successful career path and global affinities. 👍Some previous work products:(1) I published an accessible, award-winning 21st-century update to Darwinian evolution. "Rethinking Evolution" is intended for the general public as well as students and professionals. Awarded "Top 5 Popular Science Books 2019" by World Scientific. Now in a beautifully narrated & affordable audiobook edition. Over 200 free short lessons (audio with slides) covering Chapters 1-16 are on YouTube. Please visit https://www.rethinkingevolution.com.(2) In response to the pandemic, SmartNoter developed an innovative, patented Convergent Media/Convergent Learning toolkit for college communities to rapidly migrate and improve their own content and lesson flow, in safe, on-demand college courses last Fall. Please direct message me to discuss licensing of patent and software IP.(3) As a graduate student, I discovered the fundamental mechanism by which repetitive DNA sequences expand, known as slipped-strand mispairing. Repetitive DNA makes up a large percentage of genomic DNA and promotes gene duplication events that play a major role in evolution.(4) I logged > 1000 h of one-on-one professional tutoring with students from one of the top rated high schools in the U.S.--mostly in honors and AP chemistry and biology-- and received over 300 5-star parent ratings.(5) Bachelors from the University of California at Berkeley, PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of California at Irvine.(6) I won the Harvard faculty award for teaching excellence, as a Tutor in Biology for Harvard undergrad students, while conducting molecular and cellular immunology and HIV-related T-cell research, as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University.(7) I founded the first lab to reliably screen for life‐threatening genetic disorders in human embryos, using nested PCR. We had zero clinical errors over my 8 years as lab director, and we freely published all of our methods & results in scientific journals.😎Copyright (c) 2024 by Gene Levinson.
