During the past 20+ years in the Capital Region, I have had the opportunity to start up a health awareness initiative for Latino senior citizens and to enhance two pre-apprenticeship programs for women and minorities interested in the building trades. These experiences have utilized and enhanced my communications and management skills. These projects depended on the development of a comprehensive community outreach plan that was non-existent or minimal at best. Therefore, designing and implementing one was very challenging but rather successful. I have coordinated the efforts to assist High School students as a Workforce Development Specialist, by connecting the efforts of community leaders and service providers to help young people achieve their goals. This collaboration is so that they may be successful in life and become contributing citizens in their respective communities. I continue to serve on several committees and task forces that focus on improving Community involvement and health/safety initiatives, with a focus on youth. I have coordinated a state-wide voter registration effort. I have served as the Outreach and Admissions Counselor for Glenmont Job Corps, covering Albany, Fulton, Montgomery and Schoharie Counties. I was an overnight Administrator at Berkshire Farm Center for almost 4 years with unaccompanied migrant children and currently working at the CDYMCA's Black and Latino Achievers program.
