St. Louis Community College's African-American Male Initiative was created as a response to the needs of African-American male students on the Florissant Valley and Forest Park campuses. The goals of the program are to increase the persistence rate of African-American male students at St. Louis Community College and Increase the academic achievement levels of African-American male students at St. Louis Community College.

Provide instruction for first-year college students in a dynamic, interactive college orientation course designed to enhance student persistence, and academic success. Additionally responsible for creating supplemental lecture materials for daily student engagement and instruction.

Vision GEAR-UP(Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)is a federally funded college access program. Our mission is to academically prepare and motivate a cohort of eleventh grade students in three St. Louis County high schools to pursue and succeed in a post-secondary education program.

By offering access to exceptional educational opportunities and ongoing comprehensive support to our scholars, we work to increase their college graduation rates and to develop new generations of leaders.

The University of Washington has one of the nation's elite intercollegiate athletics programs that consists of 21 sports. The Huskies have won national championships in football, women's cross country, men's rowing, women's rowing, softball and women's volleyball. The department annually finishes among the top schools in the nation in the NACDA Director's Cup and the Pacific-10 Conference.
