Had primary care responsibilities that helped me hone communication, diagnostic, treatment and procedure skills in a variety of specialties including emergency, urgent care, anesthesia, neurology, internal medicine, surgery, others. Taught and guided students through surgical labs, clinical skills, case work-up and management through a variety of rotations (emergency, internal medicine, surgery and neurology.)

Participated in mentorship of underrepresented minorities from highschool who are interested in the veterinary field. Participated as a Spanish workshop mentor introducing students to basic pronunciation, common phrases, and veterinary clinical terminology.

Acted as professor’s assistant by guiding students through their Neuroanatomy course while also aiding with tasks such as grading, improving teaching techniques and laboratory specimen preparation.

Developed sterile and aseptic perioperative technical skills. Learned and reviewed important instruments inemergent surgical cases including hemilaminectomies

Developed a safe environment where topics on diversity were discussed with the goal of finding ways to improve our institution as well as the veterinary field. Collaborated with students, faculty and staff to bring innovative curriculum ideas with the goal to promote diversity, mentorship and retention of diverse students in the field of veterinary medicine. Acted as a liaison between SAVMA, diversity related student organizations (i.e. VOICE, Broad Spectrum) and student-faculty organizations (i.e. Belonging at Cornell Committee, etc.).

Organized clinical and teaching labs for students assisting neuroanatomy. Organized neurology lectures for students of all years interested in expanding their knowledge in neurology

Scheduled lectures surrounding DNI topics and organized a brunch where attendees could interact and learn about DNI needs in different parts of the field while brainstorming possible solutions. Cancelled due to COVID.
