As an immigrant child from Korea growing up in Calgary, Alberta, I spent my time enamored reading about my heritage and the history regarding my cultural background. In particular, I became enthralled over the political issues of Korea following the Korean War, and wanted to know more, leading me to the path of Political Science and International Relations. Going through my education, my interests began to widen, and I became interested in politics pertaining to Asia at-large, especially with regards to Japan. I am currently looking to take my first steps into policy research and analysis, to expand on the curiosity that I have held from an early age, as well as the education that allowed me to explore it in greater detail.I am a graduate from the University of British Columbia, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and a minor in Commerce. In 2017, I participated as an exchange student, attending a semester at the prestigious Kyoto University in Japan, taking in the sights and culture, and further expanding my knowledge of a culture that I had previously only seen through media.During my time as an undergraduate student, I interned with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada on two separate occasions, most recently in 2019, when I participated as a member of the Indonesian Presidential Election Watch team, a wonderful opportunity which allowed me to focus my research into an area that I had known nothing about previously. On a more personal level, my interests in my free time include gaming and sports, particularly baseball.
