I started out in 1982 in the hospitality industry trained for full silver service (once headhunted by the dorchester), later assistant sommelier for a while in same hotel. Met my husband there, got married, had a family, all the time still working in same industry. Worked as Ice cafe restaraunt manager. Started baking and cake decorating for the family birthdays and Christmas, later taking friends orders. got breast cancer (caught early) got bored resting at home started a cake business from home, fully sanctioned by health dept, even managed to get a level 5 food rating. Did rather well at the business even appeared on Simon cowells food glorious food contest (didn't get far was told my updated version of 1970s school dinner favourite was too sweet for my judges taste) public dissagreed and I was inundated with recipe requests. 2015 brexit referendum was looming. I had foresight to see the writing on the wall and did not like what I saw. Nov 2015 We relocated to Germany, a decision we did not regret from a finance point of view. Feb 2016 I started work as a restaurant konditorin for a year. 2017 worked for stecker konditorei Bremen. 2019 rolfs commercial bakerei handwerk production but in 2020 covid lockdown happened. My husband s hotel chef job was on covid time, I still worked full time at the bakery. 2021. Finally got around to writing my cupcake book, "cupcakes with a difference" got it published. Sold 500 copies in paperback and e-book. December 2023. Time to move on. I learned new skills and processes but Factory mass production was boring me. The money through covid was good but not good for my creative mentality. Going back to my 1st love the kitchen,being creative, started working at the Dorint as a chef. The freedom to improvise and experiment dishes, come up with ideas.
