After years working in senior roles in the waste industry, I have set up a business refurbishing and recycling pallets. over the years i have seen countless thousands of pallets end up in the waste stream when with a lillttle bit of TLC they can be used many times again.I will also be making bespoke pallet furniture in the quiet moments - though I dont think there will be many of those!!

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and the wider Board, responsible, and accountable, for the delivery of all operational activities across the company and its sister and subsidiary businesses. With a key focus on Health & Safety across the business, as well as a determination to drive out inefficiency, Achievements to date include making a direct and positive contribution to the recent success of the company, moving from an operating loss to operating profit within 18 months and completing the compnay's largest ever capital project on time and on budget. I am a key and influential member of both the Board and executive team and play a vital role in influencing policy, strategy and ambitions then ensuring that these are implemented. I am also commercially astute, understanding the wider environment in which the business operates, and am able to act quickly to respond to known and perceived threats and opportunities as they arise. Recent successes and acheivments include:• A significant, and ongoing, reduction in injuries, incidents, and lost time injuries. . • Delivery of a new Waste Transfer Facility in York, the largest capital project the company has undertaken, on time and to budget. • A significant reduction in operation costs across all areas of the business whilst streamlining and rationalising operational activity.• Mobilisation of a multimillion-pound contract for our majority shareholder, bringing into the business another 18 operational sites, along with 85 employees, equipment and vehicles. This contract was mobilised without any disruption to the customer facing services.

Responsible for delivering frontline, public facing services with a strong focus on how the Council could transform the delivery of these functions in an efficient and effective manner through income generation, shared services and creativity in future provision. Significant acheivements include leading a succesful project to overhaul the pay, terms and conditions for 8,000 full and part time staff, providing focused project management lead on transport and fleet operations and responsible for planning and delivering full recycling services to 90,000 homes and businesses in York taking the recycling rate from 5% to 45% in 7 years.I was also responsible for intorducing an innovative and award winning council wide pool car sheme, amongst the first of its kind in the country, which saw the introduction of the first electric vehicles into the historic city of York.
