Enabling the expansion of Ferring's early stage pipeline through external collaboration. Identify early stage assets (discovery up to PoC) for consideration to enter portfolio through screening, attendance at key conferences and through personal internal and external network. Collaborate with Therapeutic Area heads for assessment and prioritization. Lead internal, cross functional, globally distributed teams to execute DD, draft development plans with risks, gaps and required resources to internalize project. Work closely with clinical and commercial teams to understand and build project value story. Analyze and develop proposed deal structure, negotiate terms and present to portfolio governance committee and executive board. As needed, work with external experts and consultants. As part of role, led effort to develop internal department processes, interfaces with key stakeholders (Therapeutic Area heads, governance committees, etc.) and methods to identify and track opportunities. Establish discovery collaborations and sponsored research agreements with early stage companies and academic institutions. Work with research discovery team in San Diego to analyze opportunities, develop research plan and go/no go criteria for discovery/preclinical stage programs. Make decisions on seed capital funding within overall company prioritization and internal department budget.

Project Director intimately involved in the scoping of new product visions and then leading the effort to translate that into a coherent drug discovery plan. Responsible for leading the drug discovery team through candidate selection. Responsible for creating and leading cross functional R&D teams to move development candidates into drug development.
