Joined Sporting Life in 1964 and graduated through the ranks, reporting on-course from 1971 to 1998, becoming chief correspondent in 1985 and being presented the Horserace Writers Racing Journalist of the Year award by Lord Derby in 1988.Following the closure of 'The Life' I carried on my journalism, freelancing for The Racing Post, The Sportsman and Pacemaker and writing a weekly column on UK racing for South Africa’s, The Citizen. However, I’ve always been really interested in broadcasting and was both a presenter, analyst and racecourse reporter, first with The Racing Channel and then ATR and GBI, doing voice-overs on UK racing on a global scale.I still retain my racing journalistic links, having just had my memoirs published, entitled The Time of My Life, while I edit trainer Alan King’s website, besides being a regular contributor to the popular HK simulcasts.
