Operational planning, preparedness for, response to and recovery from Y2K events across the Group.

Design & implementation of new operational incident management and post-incident review processes. These required no substantial change during 15 years subsequent use responding to a wide range of events up to & including major incidents. Processes expanded to cover business continuity and ITDR exposures. Principal advisor on all major incidents between 1996 – 2001 including: floods; drought; freeze-thaw event; chemical & biological contaminations; foot & mouth disease; national fuel supply disruption; major loss of supply; chlorine leaks, explosive depressurisation, key asset failures & security events.

Asset owner of one sixth of the Company’s water supply assets serving 1.2m population (450 Megalitres / Day) in the City of Manchester & the surrounding metropolitan area. Responsible also for 50% of the region’s 1200km of major aqueduct network & all regional reservoir safety monitoring (180 earth embankments & mass concrete dams).

Regional performance monitoring & improvement for NWW Ltd. (7 million population). Responsible for development, implementation and utilisation of seven key regulatory performance monitoring systems successfully influencing the outcome of the regulatory pricing mechanism applied to NWW post-privatisation.

Responsible for water distribution network design, byelaws compliance, network operation, leakage control, mainlaying, network maintenance and network rehabilitation by direct and contract labour. 24/7 operational response role for six years. Concluded in District Manager’s role responsible for 120 employees and water supplies to 750,000 population. Period involved high levels of network investment to overcome significant water quality problems and replacement of aged infrastructure.

Design Engineer, Resident Engineer & Rehabilitation Engineer experienced in the construction, operation and maintenance of roads, bridges, buildings, tunnels, pipelines, service reservoirs, sewers, wastewater pumping, wastewater treatment and sludge treatment assets.
