Joined the Queensland Department of Mines as a drill helper in May 1972. Commenced drilling the following year, broad experience using various chuck drive rigs, including Longyears, Boyles and Mindrills using triple tube core barrels to depths of 500 meters.Gained experience on a number of early top drives [Fox, Mole Pioneer] along with a range of compressors and down hole tools operating in the coal fields of the Bowen Basin.Joined Rockdrill gaining hard rock drilling experience plus oil shale at Mt Larcom, Queensland.Travel to PNG working for UGC and was involved in a discovery program at Porgera, operating a Longyear 38 conducting helicopter moves. Drilled the porphyry copper deposit on Manus Island, PQ3 and HQ3 core.Joined Gaden Drilling and spent a number of years drilling within the Northern Territory, plus many years at the Argyle Diamond Mine, supervised a deep PQ program using the UDR 1500 drilling to depths beyond 700 meters. Operated Longyear and UDR machines. Spent a year in NZ drilling on the Golden Cross propect with Radial Drilling, drilling PQ3 and HQ3 to depths of 400 meters.Returned to Gaden Drilling as a driller prior to recieving a supervisors position. Assisted setting up the underground rigs [LM37 and LM55] and commenced the first UG coring program at Woodcutters. Drilled a number of programs at the Ranger Uranium Mine and supervised a program at Jabiluka [many shear zones].Early 1994 relocated to Dubbo working for both Cherlor and then Pontil. Supervised 2 rig operation at Lake Cowal on the original lake rigs.Commenced with Pontil in 1996 supervising at both Brozewing and Newman in WA prior to transfering to the Freeport Mine early 1998 and commenced supervising 3 LM75's on 1300 series feed frames drilling HQ to depths beyond 700 meters.During 1999 was Site Manager overseeing the 3 underground rigs and 7 surface rigs including the UDR 5000 along with 120 man national crew plus 30 expat drillers.
