There is no doubt in my mind that this is the most exciting chapter of my career. And that's saying a lot. Early in my career, I performed theater in the Midwest, excelled on the sketch improvisation stage in Chicago, and hammed it up for frenzied fans as a professional sports mascot. What those early experiences instilled in me was an appreciation for ongoing self-development, as well as a deep need to connect with others in such a way that I could make a positive impact. That ethos has served me well in almost 25 years of total experience in the trenches of the bar and restaurant industry, 15 of that in middle to senior management, as well as 10 years of overlapping experience in the non-profit sector. In my professional career, I've launched workforce development initiatives in urban communities, facilitated large-scale human services delivery, managed events and arts programming for an historic venue, and provided senior leadership for various startups and mature small businesses seeking expert operations management, strategic planning, staff training, and business development. My utility has always been derived from offering both high-level and front-line insights, along with having the emotional intelligence and heart for hospitality to transform teams back into alignment, purpose and profit.As I continue on my professional journey, I seek opportunities to continue to evolve, serve my community, engage as a mentor and advisor, apply my deep toolkit to a worthwhile mission.Today, I am a local owner of FocalPoint Business Coaching, a worldwide network of rigorously trained business coaches supported by a top notch learning framework and a value-driven culture. I offer 1:1 and group coaching, professional behavior assessments, certified leadership training, strategic planning, and project consulting.True to my roots, I lean toward niching into the restaurant and craft beer industries. To that end, I recently founded the Pittsburgh Brewery Business Forum, an initiative that addresses the critical need for a more structured conversation around the business of owning and leading breweries in the local community. I believe that we are all regular people who aspire or are called upon to do extraordinary things. I see myself as an ordinary hero for ordinary heroes and strive to live up to that ideal every day.
