Systems Engineer
Completion of a short term contract working in the Systems Engineering group based in Bayswater, VIC. During this time my main focus was to conduct field surveys,deliver designs and to document in-building coverage solutions for P25 public safety users. This work was done for a number of public buildings such as shopping centers and a hospital in NSW.Tasks completed during this assignment were:* Troubling shooting of a rebroadcast system in NSW, achieving practical completion of the job.* Research into, and the implementation of in-building coverage measurement for a portable environment.* To develop and produce coverage reports on the basis of site inspections and coverage testing.* To develop preliminary design reports as part of a team, for a number of in-building coverage solutions.
Field Service Manager
Management of a field service team, supporting a range of mobile communication networks for both commercial and government customers. These networks include RF base stations, site linking using fiber and microwave, plus remote site facilities that incorporate towers, shelters, power systems etc. The role includes the management of direct staff and sub contractors, plus liaison with internal engineering groups, external suppliers and all levels of management.Career Highlights:Part of Motorola's bid team that was successful to secure business to build, own and operate the Metropolitan Mobile Radio (MMR) network for the State of Victoria. This project replaced existing analogue radio systems that were being maintained and used by Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board, with a state of the art digital trunked radio system. I was also part of the team that implemented and maintained this solution.A key role as part of Motorola’s successful bid and implementation team to design, supply, install and maintain a wide area digital communications network for the Australian Customs Service (ACS) in the Torres Strait region of northern Queensland.This was the first time ACS had outsourced system maintenance; the first of a number of contracts that are still in place today.Within the sales to support cycle, I have demonstrated a high level of integrity and trust in my ongoing relationship with a number of customers. This ongoing relationship has positioned Motorola with key players within these organisations, and has been a major factor in winning new business.
