Conversion of existing components from simple 2D drawings to precise and current 3D models. Detailing of both existing and new components with emphasis on labor reduction and machine durability, while maintaining high manufacturability and cost reduction. Design and development of new subsystems and components to increase efficiency and throughput of machines, to increase flexibility and adjustability of designs, and to accommodate larger birds the poultry industry now produces. Travel to customer work sites to install, initialize, and troubleshoot equipment; work with customers to determine their needs and how to cost-effectively meet them. Major clients include Tyson, Hillshire, Perdue, Maple Leaf Foods, Butterball, and Cargill, among many others.

Design and improve tooling related to water blasting (10K - 40K PSI water jets) and other industrial cleaning applications. Modeling existing parts, designing and drawing new parts for manufacture, and assembling and testing of prototype units. Analysis of current parts and systems with emphasis on improving efficiency, increasing operator safety, saving time and reducing resource consumption. Travel to customer sites to experience first-hand working conditions and requirements, to understand how the cleaning processes could be improved with automated solutions.

Machining small parts from aluminum, steel and stainless steel; designing parts and assemblies and creating drafts; maintenance and troubleshooting of shop floor tools. Work alongside other students in small teams to complete specific tasks related to overall project.

Ohio University

Work as part of a 5 person team to develop, design, prototype, analyze and construct a device to allow a real world client, an artist with Multiple Sclerosis, to open paint tubes one handed and with limited mobility and strength. Brainstorm and sketch ideas, model parts in SolidEdge, fabricat parts using CNC lathes and mills, and test designs. Product was delivered to client June 2010 who was satisfied beyond expectations. Received an 'A' in the course.
