Agera Energy is a mid-tier C&I retail energy provider with a national footprint encompassing 70+ electricity and natural gas retail markets. Agera specializes in providing customized energy plans that help businesses to meet their short and long term procurement and other strategic objectives.I was directly responsible for building an energy portfolio for Eli Global, beginning with the turn-around of Agera Energy, a $700M+ C&I retail energy provider.

Liberty Power is the largest independent retail electric provider and 13th largest non-residential retailer in the US and has been recognized by JD Power for overall residential customer satisfaction. Liberty Power has received the distinction of being the largest Hispanic-owned Energy Company in the US and the 8th largest Hispanic-owned company overall in the Hispanic Business 500. My charge was to spearhead profitable growth for Liberty across all market segments. Responsible for sales, marketing, and business development, I led cross-functional teams responsible for providing innovative, customizable and reliable solutions and excellent customer service for Liberty’s Mass Market and C&I Retail Energy Businesses.

Direct Energy is one of the largest residential retailers in North America with over 25M customers in the UK, Ireland, and North America and is one of the largest C&I retail energy providers in North America serving more than 240,000 business customers.In this role, I had P&L responsibility for Direct Energy’s residential retail energy, home warranty, and protection plan businesses in North America. Additionally, I was charged with end-to-end marketing functions supporting the North America Home line of business.Notable Achievements:• Doubled the profitability in the home warranty and protection plan business during the first year of responsibility and exceeded operating profit objectives in the energy product line by $25M+ in consecutive years.• Led commercial efforts to promote cross-sell of both services and technology bundles. From a standing start, increased bundled sales to 40% of all plans sold in the retail energy product line within a two-year period.• Created customer experience function and aligned it with insights and analytics capabilities to drive improvements in Net Promoter Score and return on marketing effectiveness metrics.

P&L responsibility for $2B+ residential retail energy business spanning 70+ deregulated electricity and natural gas markets including both services and technology related bundled offerings.

Led front and back office operations for the Direct Energy Residential line of business as well as select operational activities for Direct Energy Business and Direct Energy Services. 2000+ people organization spanning insourced/outsourced activities and onshore, near-shore and offshore locations. Budgetary responsibility: $150M-$200M per annum.

Led successful integration of four distinct retail energy business acquisitions encompassing $500M+ in transaction value over the course of a two-year period. Delivered upwards of $60M in incremental value relative to KFI expectations during the first 12-months post-close across the portfolio as well as meeting or exceeding other longer-term investment case criteria.

Led end to end transformation of DEB Canada business with a focus on driving profitable growth, simplifying and streamlining processes and restoring a high performance and customer-centric culture. Reduced operating expenditures by 36% over a 24-month period while improving year on year sales performance against a backdrop of significant regulatory and market change/uncertainty.

Commodity hedging strategy and volumetric balancing for ~300k residential retail energy portfolio.

Conceived the concept of a start-up entity intending to offer energy rate assurance and other home-related financial protection services to residential and small commercial customers in select markets across the U.S. Formed corporation, developed business, marketing, and risk management plans as well as a subscription agreement for the private placement of common stock. Met with various East Coast venture capital firms, hedge fund managers and other potential investors.Closed a transaction involving the acquisition of all the assets of G&B Concrete Inc. in 2003. Post-transaction close initiatives included implementing a new management structure, improving back office functions, developing and implementing project and margin management metrics and managing day-to-day P&L.

I supervised the staff responsible for market entry analysis, planning, and implementation. Managed acquisition, renewal and retention-based pricing and product development activities. Served as the marketing point person on all merger and acquisition evaluation and integration initiatives. Led end-to-end terms and conditions drafting, review and regulatory approval process.
